Commercial hand dryers for high traffic restrooms

How to choose a commercial hand dryer

  • Voltage: match the dryer to the circuit on the electrical drawings before you order. Voltage is listed in each product name.
  • HEPA filter: XLERATOR models with "HEPA" in the name include a HEPA filtration system that filters the air before it reaches the user's hands.
  • Noise: XLERATOR models with the 1.1 noise reduction nozzle run quieter, which helps in offices, clinics and schools.
  • Mounting depth: recessed and semi-recessed models, or a recess kit, keep the dryer from sticking out into the walkway.
  • Finish: brushed stainless, chrome, white, graphite, black and custom image covers to match the room.

What does ADA say about hand dryer depth?

Section 307.2 of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design states: "Objects with leading edges more than 27 inches (685 mm) and not more than 80 inches (2030 mm) above the finish floor or ground shall protrude 4 inches (100 mm) maximum horizontally into the circulation path." Check the projection on the product spec sheet against your mounting height. Local codes can be stricter.
