Commercial lockers by use

Most Division 10 lockers fall into one of six uses. The use sets the material, the tier count and the lock, so start there before picking a brand.

Employee lockers	Double tier, box or Z lockers in break rooms and staff areas, often with built in digital locks
Hospital lockers	Box and half height lockers for staff changing areas, phenolic or laminate in finished spaces, antimicrobial finishes where the spec calls for them
Fire, EMS and police gear lockers	Open front or open grid gear lockers that let turnout gear dry, plus duty lockers for officers

Locker materials: metal, plastic, phenolic and wood

Metal lockers are the default for schools and most locker rooms and cost the least per opening. Solid plastic lockers (HDPE) and phenolic lockers cost more but will not rust, so they belong in pool areas, shower rooms and anywhere the air stays wet. Plastic laminate and wood lockers go in finished spaces such as offices, clubs, hotels and executive locker rooms, where the lockers are part of the interior design.

Tiers, sizes and options

A locker opening is set by width, depth, height and tiers. Single tier lockers give one full height compartment per column. Double tier and triple tier lockers stack two or three, and box lockers stack four to six or more small compartments for personal items. Z lockers and two person lockers give each user a full height space for hanging clothes in less width. Multi person units such as the 16 person locker give every user a box with a shared hanging area.

• Ventilated lockers have perforated or diamond mesh doors and sides for airflow in gyms and athletic rooms.
• All welded lockers come assembled from the factory and stand up to the hardest use. Knocked down lockers ship flat and are assembled on site.
• ADA lockers give accessible units with recessed handles and shelves and hooks in reach range.
• Sloped tops, closed bases and recess trim keep dust off the tops, keep dirt out from under the lockers and close the gap to the wall or soffit.
• Locks can be padlock hasps, built in combination locks, coin locks or digital keypad and RFID locks.

Locker benches, shelving, cubbies and mailboxes

Lockers rarely ship alone. Locker benches go between rows in locker rooms, either freestanding or on fixed locker bench pedestals anchored to the floor. Cubbies serve schools, daycare and fitness studios. Shelving covers storage rooms, maintenance shops and warehouses. In apartments and mixed use buildings we also furnish and install lobby and residential mailboxes with the rest of the package. Price them together and one crew sets them in the same visit.

Penco

Penco Products builds steel lockers in Greenville, North Carolina, and says it makes its lockers and storage systems in the USA. Lines include Vanguard, Guardian, Invincible II and Stadium lockers, Patriot duty and turnout gear lockers for police and fire, plus benches, pedestals and shelving (Penco lockers).

Lyon

Lyon makes steel lockers in the USA and says it has made metal lockers since 1901. Lines include standard steel, PDQ, heavy duty, all welded, ventilated, employee, gear and athletic lockers, plus locker room benches and industrial shelving (Lyon metal lockers).

Republic Storage

Republic Storage makes steel lockers in the USA, including standard, PDQ, employee, corridor, ventilated gym, gear and MVP athletic lockers, ADA lockers and metal cubbies, in 10 standard colors plus custom paint (Republic metal lockers).

ASI Storage Solutions

ASI Storage Solutions offers metal lockers (Traditional, Traditional Plus, Competitor, Pro and Specialty collections), plastic lockers including the HDPE Solid Plastic Pro locker, phenolic lockers, cubbies, and bench tops and pedestals. ASI lists a 20 year warranty on its plastic and phenolic lockers and a 2 year warranty on metal (ASI Storage lockers).

Scranton Products

Scranton Products makes Tufftec and Duralife solid plastic (HDPE) lockers and Tufftec locker room benches. Scranton Products lockers resist moisture, mold and graffiti and never need painting, and Tufftec lockers carry a 25 year limited warranty (Tufftec lockers).

Hollman

Hollman builds lockers in the USA in plastic laminate, Nanolam, phenolic, glass and wood, in several door styles, with benches, grooming stations and electronic lock options. Hollman lockers are a common choice for clubs, collegiate athletics and executive locker rooms (Hollman locker models).

Ideal

Ideal Products makes plastic laminate, wood and solid phenolic lockers in the USA, including fire retardant laminate lines, plus cubbies, benches and grooming stations. Ideal says it introduced the Z locker in 1982 (Ideal Products).

GearGrid

GearGrid builds powder coated steel lockers with an open grid in Forest Lake, Minnesota. The open grid lets turnout gear air dry, which is why fire and EMS stations specify it. GearGrid also makes athletic, public works and tactical lockers (GearGrid fire and EMS lockers).

Hadrian

Hadrian lockers are heavy duty steel in three families: Emperor corridor lockers, Gladiator athletic lockers with fully ventilated doors and sides, and specialty lockers including open front, ADA and custom units. Hadrian is part of Zurn Elkay Water Solutions (Hadrian lockers).

Locker installation by our own crews

Commercial locker installation decides whether a locker bank looks right for 20 years. Lockers set on an unlevel floor rack and the doors bind. Banks not anchored to the wall can tip. Recessed lockers need the opening, base and trim sized together before the wall is framed. Our crews check bases and blocking against the locker schedule, level and gang each bank, anchor it to the wall and floor, install tops, end panels, fillers and recess trim, set benches and pedestals, number the doors and set up the locks before handover.

In Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina, the same W2, background checked crews that install our toilet partitions, wall protection and visual display boards install lockers, so your Division 10 package is one contract and one point of contact. We are licensed and insured, provide a COI on request, and handle certified payroll for prevailing wage work. Outside those states we ship nationwide and send installation details for your installer.
